Have you ever noticed that the structures at some rest areas are really cool?  I have.  It must be the lack of context combined with minimal function.  These little structures are provided in the middle of nowhere for people to do whatever they want (rest).  And there seem to be almost no rules for what they should look like.

The modern architect will, of course, try to inject meaning to the forms.  But ultimately they are just durable independent structures waiting for someone to come along and have a picnic.
